The workshop is organized by the Academy Town section of the Company, the Faculty of Architecture, University of Cagliari and the Pratt Institute GAUD (Graduate Architecture and Urban Design Program) Brooklyn, New York, met for the first time in the Sardinian town of Pratt students Institute and the Faculty of Architecture-diarchy.
We study two key areas of strategic planning of Cagliari: the Molentargius Park and Park Railway. They become places where research experience how to design and manufacture of the border to propose alternative models result of a design environmentally sustainable and sensitive to the dynamics of ecosystems board of City. Thanks to the most sophisticated digital design techniques used in the workshop, you build the foundations not only for the representation of the object and its production, but also for continuous reaction and adaptability to constantly changing scenarios. These assumptions appear highly relevant in Sardinia, where the natural and cultural features, the burgeoning tourist industry, the scarcity of traditional energy sources and an abundance of renewable sources to generate a voltage driving technologically advanced, although still not fully exploited. With these ambitious goals, or submit innovative proposals for the development of two strategic areas for the Sardinian capital, 7 graduates attending their course of Masters at Pratt (representatives of the larger group of 10 who is currently doing research on the sites of Molentargius Park and Railroad Park), will meet at City firm, with 10 graduates of the University of Cagliari to experience and experiment with the "project" as a synergy of production.
During the workshop we will use the software's advanced parametric design and manufacturing. The Faculty of Architecture of Cagliari and the Pratt Institute in New York use, in fact, in their courses, the innovative design tool for parametric and associative Bentley Generative Components, and are officially included in Bentley's BE Careers Network program. This tool is used today in universities and research centers of international prestige and studied architecture and engineering technology. These systems are design specific synergy with digital manufacturing technology (CNC), in particular the use of laser cutting machines capable of reproducing in scale ridota issues related to the actual manufacturing. The experimentation of architectural components interacting with the environment and capable of their energy production, designed with the latest approach - such as that parameter - becomes a fundamental part of the project, from the earliest stages (research, creative phase, formal generation) to production the model. This synergistic and advanced design are "plastic models" that will constitute the "end product" of the workshop, the whole will be presented Wednesday, October 29 at the building of the Salt Chosen Molentargius Park when it opened the temporary exhibition of the models.
