Appeals for the Conchetta!

Public below the official appeal to reopen Cox 18.

Conchetta The eviction is the latest sign of social and cultural insensitivity of those who govern Milan. It is the last act obtuse chain of choices that are making scramble the face of our city.

strokes of displacement and acts of force, you are destroying all the places of culture, memory and sociability, without offering something new but on the ground leaving only rubble.

It is proceeding on the path of approval, with the clear aim of building a city in which they are absent diversity, dialogue and cultures. A city where the only prohibitions are absent against the powers that be and their omnivorous urge to eat until the last inch of territory.

to silence critical voices by eliminating the places of socialization and alternative culture, is but a piece of this project disintegrated society, made up of many individuals without relations.

At risk are not only self-administered areas. Every corner of the city is under the same process of approval and commercialization of the life, rights and needs. First, the suburbs, the agenda of directors only for new or renewed speculation security policies. The same old town from the gallery of ideas and a meeting has been gradually transformed into a place only for consumption opulent, decorated with bows to showcase fashion, impervious to real life the metropolis.

This is the Milan we want? We want to wait until the last blade of grass there is snatched from under their feet, or think we have to react?

an editorial manifesto called for "Milan which side are you?". We say that the great anti-racist mobilization for Abba and the extraordinary parade of Saturday, showed that in this city there are energies, vital forces, free spirits who still do not give up the veil which aims to remove obscurantist culture and humanity.

The left can not wait any longer, divided between generosity impotent or shyness. The left, in all its ramifications can and must engage in a great battle for freedom and democracy. Must meet soon to launch a major initiative and a single battle between cultures and civilizations.

We ready.

Peace in Palestine

Moni Ovadia Ali and Rashid

The images that come from Gaza speak of a tragedy of enormous dimensions, and the words are not enough to express our outrage . As the days passed the barbarism that grows along with the lives and homes, affection, to culture and memory, destroying all of us in humanity and with it the dream and hope. It deforms our common sense, demeans the legal culture, forged by the tragedies of the past century to prevent recurrence. So they become waste paper on international conventions and basic norms of international law and its institutions, paralyzed by vetoes and devoid of authority as well as tools for action. So grow up hatred and resentment, you radicalize the positions and distances become lack of communication. The same responsibilities are confused, so that life in an open prison becomes the norm, the invasion of one of the armies powerful in the world is the same as an act of terrorism but execrable. But that does not help peace, which is made primarily of listening, dialogue and compromise. Of course, in law, but we saw that for only that route sixty years were not enough and after each crisis we are left with is a bit 'in spite of more and less certainty. We know that the occupation generates resistance, war strengthens terrorism, violence changes people and fundamentalism feed on each other. But we also learned over the years that the objectives of peace, security and prosperity do not go through the use of armed force, but through the adoption of acceptable choices for both stakeholders and the initiation of a process of mutual recognition, the pain of others first, which is the first step towards reconciliation. Instead, each time we approached an acceptable compromise, the use of violence wicked, premeditated murder, annihilation of the other, was used to demolish what was built patiently, the little 'mutual trust in the first place. Everything is then complicated by the weight of history that in this passage between Europe and Palestine acts as a raw stone, creating false consciousness, hypocrisy, irresponsibility. The outcome was the canker of a question, the Palestinian one, which took effect and destabilizing the entire region and beyond, becoming - as Nelson Mandela had to call it - "the moral issue of our time." Of this weak point in recent years have drawn terrorism and fundamentalism, authoritarian regimes and lovers of the clash of civilizations. A pay were the people of the region, are children and young people raised in an environment of hatred, violence and fear, but also democracy and secular culture which also drew on existing traditions and Arab-Jewish Palestinians. So even from this war, murderous and stupid as any war, will benefit only fundamentalists and those who think that the solution can be dall'annichilimento opponent. How to have written in recent days Vaclav Havel, Desmond Tutu and other men of culture "... what is at stake in Gaza is the 'fundamental ethics of the human race. The suffering, the 'arbitrariness with which they destroy lives, despair, deprivation of human dignity in this region have lasted too long. The Palestinians of Gaza, and all those who live in this region in the deterioration and lack of hope can not wait 'entry into action of new governments or international institutions. If we are to avoid the Fertile Crescent, the "Fertile Crescent" of the Mediterranean South would become sterile, we must wake up and find the moral courage and political vision for a qualitative leap in Palestine. "

We appeal to people who love peace and they see the tragedy of these times their own tragedy, to do everything in their power to ensure that there is an immediate ceasefire and not a mockery of three hours; the end of the siege on the Gaza Strip and respect for the democratically elected Palestinian institutions, the involvement of an international peace force under the aegis of the United Nations in the West Bank and Gaza Strip along the '67 borders, 's launch of negotiations to reach a political solution based on respect for the rights of peoples, minorities and person, in a process that can provide immediate secure borders for the State of Israel and for the State of Palestine, the creation of a Committee for Peace in Palestine, free from exploitation due to its own purposes that have characterized the conduct of some groups in recent years, the membership of persons and groups who have care about peace in the Middle East to prevent the conflict from turning into wars of religion and civilizations, by promoting initiatives on the Italian territory and the convening of a national demonstration at the earliest. Nevertheless, in a context where interdependence is the hallmark of our time and as people who have common Mediterranean roots, do not stop to think of ourselves as citizens of a common post-national Euro-Mediterranean region, part of a culture that - through the history of conflict between city and countryside, or in competition between faith and knowledge, or the fight between the holders of political dominance and antagonistic classes - it is torn more than all other cultures and could not do without to learn how differences in pain can communicate. In this spirit we strive to rebuild what the war is breaking down, the bridges between people, cultures, places of peace in and between both companies, creating new areas of relationship and collaboration between Italy and Palestine, also intensifying acts of solidarity with all victims, especially the population of the Gaza Strip.
